Young Africa Live has more than two million active users across three African countries; a landmark achievement for the award-winning mobile youth platform that, since 2009, has created a space for young Africans to talk about the multitude of issues that affect them including sex, relationships and, importantly, HIV/AIDS.
The portal hosts both permanent and dynamic content featuring essential facts around HIV and AIDS; with live chat and guest bloggers, as well as helpline numbers and contact details for referral organisations who can support YAL-users in times of need.
My key task was to create an intelligible identity in order to support the platform with a variety of flexible media permutations. By typographically highlighting the user (YOU) and visually connecting it to 'LIVE', I created a relevant homophone-based statement 'YOU LIVE'.
